Biography
Born and educated in New Zealand, Elizabeth traveled the world, becoming a US citizen in 1999. A self taught artist, her art career began with a successful exhibition of silk paintings in New Zealand, a visit to the Altos De Chavon Art Colony in the Dominican Republic, then a life as a self supporting artist. After twenty years, Elizabeth retired from the Art Show Circuit to focus on painting, (silk paintings available at Baisden Gallery Tampa, and ClayPaper Gallery in Dunedin ), and teaching her “happy medium” at her studio.
Artist’s Statement
I am a self taught artist, a ‘primitive” in a sophisticated world. My art work is a lyrical, symbolic narrative. Spontaneity, freedom and richness of color are characteristic of my work. They are enhanced by the nature of silk - its lustre and receptivity to the dyes - and by the immediacy of the silk painting technique. I find great joy in encouraging others to venture forth on this most human of activities - self expression. My constant preoccupation is the ongoing revelation of a universally applicable yet individual healing paradigm for this hurting world.
Your work is exquisite .. a mirror of you … you’re truly one of the most wonderful human beings ever to grace this planet.

Love your work. My husband and I bought a piece from you about 18 yrs ago at the Tarpon Springs Art Show. We get compliments on it all the time.

I enjoyed seeing you and your studio. I will look forward to taking a class and I’m glad you appeal to the need for caretakers to de-stress, there is a great need [for that] in this area.
